NEW YORK (AP) — A day after HBO canceled “Westworld” — which had been drawing in ratings that would suggest a return on investment — creators Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and Lisa Bonet are optimistic they can find a production partner, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

The person, who wasn’t authorized to comment publicly on the situation, spoke on condition of anonymity because the parties haven’t yet finalized the details.

Last year, HBO cancelled “True Blood” two nights in a row after the first two seasons aired. HBO had a huge investment in the series, and there was concern it wouldn’t be able to recover. It was widely assumed the series would end after next week’s premiere.

The series’ abrupt cancellation marks the second time in as many weeks that the premium cable channel has pulled off another coup. The network announced Tuesday that it would cancel “The Good Wife,” which has been drawing in ratings that suggest it can become the first-ever broadcast drama series to pass the 10 million U.S. viewers milestone.
